The Village Board voted to place a referendum question on the November 8th ballot to increase the tax levy $300,000 for fiscal years 2023 through 2027.
The levy limit imposed by the State is based on net new construction or a 0% increase. The 2023 budget is capped at an increase of $20,197 for net new construction yet operations are estimated to increase over $250,000. The only way for the Village to increase its levy per the State is through a referendum.
The Board is reviewing what services or personnel would need to be cut in order to continue to provide the level of services you currently receive should the referendum fail.
The Board will schedule informational meetings to explain the Village’s position. Additional information on this subject will be forthcoming.
